چکیده

In this work, in order to analyze the load distribution on bolted joints, three different configurations of joints were modeled using the finite element method FEM, varying the joined parts and shim thickness, the intensity of the applied loads and the bolt diameter. All the proposed models are bi-dimensional, modeled with plate elements which present the same inertial moment of the parts in bending condition and the contacts are modeled using spring elements. Moreover, the models take into account the hypothesis the bolt pre-load is sufficient to ensure the contact between the parts and there is no gap between the plates and the bolt. Finally, the results of the spring elements are compared with the conventional calculation method in order to demonstrate the load distribution behavior i.e., triangular, trapezoidal or rectangular.

Using the Finite Element Analysis Method to Study the 3-point Bending Test for the Characterization of the Adherence

An elastic finite element analysis was conducted to evaluate the stress distribution in the initiation zone of the adhesive rupture during the 3-point bending test. This test is used to measure the adherence between a polyepoxy adhesive and aluminum alloy with different surface treatments. The purpose is to compare, in the high stress concentration areas, the stress fields calculated using fini...

Numerical Analysis of Cyclic Behavior of Beam-To-Column Bolted Connections in Steel Frames

This article considers the seismic behavior of beam-to-column joints in steel frames for different bolt arrangements by using of finite element modeling. As the most important beam-to-column joint type, the beam-to-column joints with end-plate is chosen for the analysis. Four different specimens have been analyzed. These models had some differences such as bolt arrangement and the presence or a...

Viscoelastic analysis of stress distribution in balanced and unbalanced adhesively bonded single-lap joints with functionally graded adherends under the Reddy model

In this study, shear and peel stress distributions in the viscoelastic adhesive layer of a single-lap joint (SLJ) with functionally graded (FG) adherends are investigated. The study focuses on the effect of different adherend profiles and material composition on the time-dependent stress concentration/distribution in balanced and unbalanced SLJs. For this purpose, the Reddy model is applied to ...
